We might be approaching the tail-end of summer, but that does not mean there is not enough time to get in a quick camping trip before the kids go back to school. Whether you are going for one night or more, camping makes for some of the best memories.
However, you do not want everyone to be hungry. And you certainly do not want to hear complaints about the food when you are miles away from the store or your kitchen.
Here are some easy camping snacks everyone will love on your last camping trip of the summer!
1. Chex Mix
Chex Mix is great for parties and even greater for campouts. Plus, you can make a variety of flavors too. The options are endless and they’re very portable too. Why not make a spicy batch for the grownups and something sweeter for the kids? Win-win!
2. Banana Boats
Open a banana lengthwise so you can insert marshmallows and chocolate chips inside with the banana. Then grill it for a treat they will go bananas for.
3. Campfire Cones
Bring ice cream cones and a variety of ingredients of your choosing to make these. Things to consider are chocolate chips (or even butterscotch, peanut butter, or white chocolate chips), nuts (like peanuts, walnuts, or almonds), mini marshmallows, coconut, dried fruit or even banana pieces.
Let the kids put the items they want into their cones, then wrap them up in foil. Heat on the grill or over the fire until the chocolate melts and let them enjoy.
4. Cinnamon Biscuit Sticks
Bring refrigerated dough and wrap it around a stick. Sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar and cook it over the fire until it is done. Yum!
5. Pigs in a blanket on a stick
Similarly, you can skewer a hot dog on a stick, wrap it with refrigerated dough, and cook it over the campfire for a camped out version of a party classic.
6. Pizza Nachos
Two of the best things ever combined. You will need a cast iron skillet for this, but it really couldn’t be any easier than adding tortilla chips, cheese, pepperoni and basically melding pizza with nachos for a winning combination. Add olives and other things you love to truly make it unique.
7. Pitas with Hummus
It is a great snack for any party, and it works just as well for your next camping trip. Plus, hummus is not only delicious but also nutritious too! It’s a no-fuss snack that’s easy to pack in your cooler.
8. Campfire Popcorn
You can cook the kernels over the fire for fresh-popped perfection. It is another simple yet fun snack to eat while camping, plus you can take along flavor enhancers like sriracha for the adults and cheese for the kids.
