4. Vietnamese sandwich
This is a complicated sandwich. You need a special slaw and seasoned pork in the Vietnamese style. For the slaw, put half a cup of water and a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in ½ cup each of carrots and radish cut into small, thin strips. Add salt, let the mixture marinate for an hour and drain.
For the pork, heat a teaspoon of canola oil in a skillet and add a tablespoon of chopped onion. Add in a pound of ground pork together with hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha sauce, Chinese 5-spice powder, onion, garlic powder and black pepper. Cook the pork for at least 5 minutes until it’s well browned.
Spread mayonnaise on sliced baguettes and bake for 5 minutes at 400°F. Build your sandwich with the pork, salami, soy sauce, cilantro and cucumber.
