Holiday Glazed Spiral Ham

I love this recipe for glazed ham because it is the perfect combination of sweet, savory and salty. Serve it for Christmas or Easter — either way, it'll be a complete showstopper for your holiday table.

Holiday Glazed Spiral Ham

– 1 (6- to 8-pound) spiral-sliced, bone-in ham shank – 1 cup pure maple syrup – 1/2 cup dark molasses

Ingredients

– 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard, such as Old Brooklyn Cheese Company's "Cleveland Caviar"

Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 300 F. Place ham on a foil-lined sheet tray and cover tightly with foil. Warm in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 120 F, about 1½ hours.

Preparation

In the meantime, combine maple syrup, dark molasses, mustard, apple cider, curry paste and garlic in a saucepan over medium-low heat and simmer until reduced by about 1/3, 6 to 8 minutes.

Preparation

Remove the ham from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Raise the oven temperature to 400 F.

Preparation

Brush on a thick layer of glaze, place the ham back in the oven and roast, uncovered, for 10 minutes.

Preparation

After 10 minutes, brush with another layer of glaze and continue to cook, 5 to 10 minutes more, until the glaze darkens and gets sticky, and the ham is completely heated through.

Preparation

Remove from the oven and brush with any remaining glaze before serving.
