2. Ingredients for Homemade Citrus Cranberry Sauce

  • 2 navel oranges (medium)
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lb. cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

3. Directions:

3.1 Prep

Finely grate 1 tsp. orange zest and 1 tsp. lemon zest. Put in a small bowl. Save rest of lemon for other uses.

Cut the rind and outer white membrane from the oranges, following the curve of the fruit. Cut between the inner membranes to remove orange segments. Cut each segment into thirds and transfer to the bowl with the citrus zest.

3.2 Stove

Combine the cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook until all cranberries have popped and mixture thickens slightly, 8-10 minutes.

3.3 Prep

Stir in the orange segments and citrus zest. Remove from heat and cool cranberry sauce to room temperature.

3.4 Serve

Chill sauce at least 3 hours before serving to thicken.
