Anyway, the original recipe for these biscuits has been around forever. You will see a similar recipe in most community cookbooks. The surprise ingredient is lemon-lime soda pop.
I have recently discovered Greek yogurt sour cream. Because I always try to buy reduced fat dairy (except cheese), I was excited to try this new product. It tastes just like sour cream, but has all that added protein from the Greek yogurt. I used that instead of regular sour cream this time with great results. I also used homemade Biscuit Mix. I haven’t tried it with my gluten free biscuit mix, so I cannot say how it will turn out, but I am throwing it out there for my gluten free readers. I watched my family eat these while sighing with jealousy.
You don’t have to make these in a cast iron skillet, I just like the extra crispiness that the cast iron gives the biscuits.

2. Ingredients for 7-Up Biscuits
- 4 cups biscuit mix (aka Bisquick)
- 1 cup lemon lime soda pop
- 1 cup sour cream (I used Greek yogurt sour cream)
- Combine first three ingredients in a bowl (with a spoon).
- Scoop into greased cast iron skillet (or alternatively, pat out on a floured surface and cut into circles).
- Pour melted butter all over biscuits, making sure some gets down to the bottom of the pan.
- Bake 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until done.
- Serve warm
