Jellies, marmalades, jams and preserves all have different consistencies, so that will make a difference, too. You can add coconut or chopped nuts to the crust. You can sprinkle chocolate or butterscotch chips on top. Do you see what I mean? The possibilities are as limited as your imagination.

2. Ingredients for Jam Bars
- ⅔ cup jam (or more, if needed)
- 1¼ cup flour
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1½ cups oats
- (optional: ½ cup coconut or chopped nuts )
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, soda, vanilla, oats, butter, salt and optional ingredients.
- Set aside 1 cup of the crumb mixture and press the remainder in a 9X13 pan (or a smaller dish for thicker bars).
- Spread the jam over the crust to ½ inch of edge.
- Sprinkle the reserved cup of mixture over the jam.
- Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
- Let cool before you slice.
