These little lovelies go by many names. I have seen them masquerading around as Chocolate Revel Bars. I have seen them with peanut butter. This recipe however, is pure unadulterated chocolate bliss. Years ago, a friend of mine brought these to a women’s retreat that I attended. We polished them off in record time and all of us begged for the recipe. Here is her version:

2. Ingredients for Oatmeal Fudge Bars
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1½ cups oatmeal
- 1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
3. Directions:
- Cream butter and brown sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Sift flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture.
- Mix in oatmeal (at this point, mixture is really stiff).
- In a saucepan, mix milk, chocolate chips and butter.
- Stir over medium heat until melted.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla. (at this point, some people add chopped nuts).
- Spread ⅔ of the oatmeal mixture into a greased 9 X 13 pan.
- Spread chocolate mixture on top.
- Drop remaining cookie mixture on top of chocolate.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
- Cool, then cut into bars.
