Way back in the the 1970s, when I was a little 2nd grader, I brought my reader home and asked my Mom if I could try a new recipe. There, in amongst the stories I had to read, was a recipe for Peanut Butter Candy. We made it and have continued making it for the last 30+ years.
Sometimes I make 1/2 the recipe, divide it amongst my kids and hand it to them to play with. I give each person a sheet of waxed paper and a small mound of cornstarch. The cornstarch allows them to touch the candy without sticking to it. They use it almost like play dough. After they have had enough fun, they eat it. No matter how old they get, they still like playing with peanut butter candy.
When I make it to give away, I roll it into ping-pong sized balls and chill it between layers of waxed paper. They will flatten out significantly over time if left out of the refrigerator.
