2. Ingredients for Hungarian Kiffles
- 3 cups unsifted flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks of butter
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 3 egg yolks
- confectioners sugar
3. Directions:
- In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar and salt
- In a stand mixer or by hand cream together the cream cheese and butter
- Add the egg yolks to the cream cheese mixture
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the cream cheese mixture
- Combine until the dough is formed
- Divide into 5 balls and refrigerate overnight
- When ready to roll let the dough come to almost room temperature
- Using a rolling pin roll the dough ball into a circle
- Using a round cookie cutter cut out circles
- Take the circle and very gently roll into an oval shape. Do this only once or twice to each circle
- Fill the oval shape with 1/2 teaspoon of filling
- Roll lengthwise while gently pulling on the sides to stretch slightly
- Lay the kiffles seam side down on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet
- Bake at 375 degrees for 10-13 minutes until lightly browned
- Cool on cooling rack
- Sprinkle with Confectioners Sugar
