2. Ingredients for Hungarian Kiffles

  • 3 cups unsifted flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 3 egg yolks
  • confectioners sugar

3. Directions:

  1. In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar and salt
  2. In a stand mixer or by hand cream together the cream cheese and butter
  3. Add the egg yolks to the cream cheese mixture
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the cream cheese mixture
  5. Combine until the dough is formed
  6. Divide into 5 balls and refrigerate overnight
  7. When ready to roll let the dough come to almost room temperature
  8. Using a rolling pin roll the dough ball into a circle
  9. Using a round cookie cutter cut out circles
  10. Take the circle and very gently roll into an oval shape. Do this only once or twice to each circle
  11. Fill the oval shape with 1/2 teaspoon of filling
  12. Roll lengthwise while gently pulling on the sides to stretch slightly
  13. Lay the kiffles seam side down on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet
  14. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-13 minutes until lightly browned
  15. Cool on cooling rack
  16. Sprinkle with Confectioners Sugar
