If you know how to make several kinds of sandwich, you’ll never go hungry. Sandwiches are simple, and yet filling enough to make a proper meal.
These recipes are great for any collection and they are perfect for the summertime.
1. The John Oliver
The Penelope restaurant in New York has long been famous for its John Oliver Sandwich. The ingredients you need are two thick slices of cranberry-walnut bread, soft goat cheese and Kalamata olive tapenade (which is puréed Kalamata olives with seasoning.) Toast the bread golden brown.
Spread one slice with the tapenade, the other with goat cheese and close. That’s all there is to it.
2. Provençal tuna sandwich
You’ll need a breakfast roll for this sandwich. Put niçoise olives, minced artichoke, lettuce, paprika and sliced hard-boiled egg in a bowl, and dress with olive oil and salt.
Lay down a thick layer of this mixture on a slice of bread, top with tuna. While it’s easy to build this sandwich, it can be somewhat difficult to eat neatly — it’s a tall number.

3. Honey and ricotta cheese oatmeal sandwich
You need oatmeal bread, sourwood honey, ricotta cheese and red pepper flakes for this earthy, filling sandwich. Toast the oatmeal bread until it’s golden brown. Spread both pieces with the ricotta cheese and sprinkle the honey and the pepper flakes on. Press both slices together and dig in.

4. Vietnamese sandwich
This is a complicated sandwich. You need a special slaw and seasoned pork in the Vietnamese style. For the slaw, put half a cup of water and a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in ½ cup each of carrots and radish cut into small, thin strips. Add salt, let the mixture marinate for an hour and drain.
For the pork, heat a teaspoon of canola oil in a skillet and add a tablespoon of chopped onion. Add in a pound of ground pork together with hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha sauce, Chinese 5-spice powder, onion, garlic powder and black pepper. Cook the pork for at least 5 minutes until it’s well browned.
Spread mayonnaise on sliced baguettes and bake for 5 minutes at 400°F. Build your sandwich with the pork, salami, soy sauce, cilantro and cucumber.

5. Strong cheddar sandwich
The dense, natural goodness of rye bread is the perfect base for strong whole-grain Wisconsin mustard and sharp cheddar. You’ll need two slices of rye bread to start. Spread mustard on both slices, place thin slices of cheese on them and press the slices together.

6. Pressed crab salad sandwich
If you have a barbecue coming up and a crowd to cater for, this sandwich should be on the menu. For the crab salad, you need to mix backfin crabmeat with red pepper vinaigrette, capers, mayonnaise, lemon zest and salt to taste. To build the sandwich, cut two slices off a loaf of ciabatta bread. Spread a little red pepper vinaigrette on them. Lay cucumber slices, tomato slices and avocado on one slice and season with lemon juice and salt. Spread the crab salad over the other slice and close the sandwich. Wrap the sandwich up tightly in plastic and press under a heavy weight for a full 24 hours.

7. Italian panino
The panino is a popular fast-food sandwich in Italy. You need two slices of Italian ciabatta or focaccia bread. Lay them out and place a slice each of speck and fontina on them. Add in arugula leaves, sprinkle a tablespoon of Balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper before you close the sandwich.

8. Cubano
This is a rich grilled sandwich that you make out of a Cuban roll. Split open an 8-inch roll and spread mayo on both sides. Place shredded roast pork, a slice of deli ham, two slices of Swiss cheese, dill pickles and yellow mustard in the roll. Heat canola oil on a skillet and place the sandwich in the skillet, pressing it down with a heavy weight. With the flame very low, the sandwich should take around 10 minutes to a side to cook well.

9. Alabama chicken sandwich
For the authentic taste of Alabama, you need to prepare a special, traditional rub for the chicken. Put mayonnaise, horseradish, salt, sugar, vinegar, cayenne, cumin, celery, garlic, paprika, coriander and pepper in a bowl and whisk. Rub the chicken with this mixture and cook it on a charcoal grill. Baste the chicken with the rub once every few minutes. It should be done in 20 minutes or so. Shred the chicken and pack it in your sandwich.

10. Butter radish sandwich
Predictably, this French delight is built on slices of baguette. Smear butter on two slices of baguette. Cut thin slices out of a radish and dress with melted butter, pepper and salt. Lay the radish slices out on your baguette.
